The Well
GO’s “Wells of Opportunity” project provides clean water and small business trainings and micro-loans to rural Cambodians in the Kampong Speu province with our partner, The Sao Sary Foundation (SSF), led by Vichetr Uon. By providing one water well to a community, you will provide a source of clean water to over 100 people, giving them the ability to grow enough food to feed their families and provide a source of income that will ultimately result in economic independence. As many as 50% of trafficking victims in Cambodia are children, sold by their parents as a means to earn income and alleviate the burden of paying high fees for clean water. With one well, trafficking is eliminated and the journey towards economic independence begins.
The Livestream
Everyone is encouraged to witness this event whether they live in San Francisco or in the Philippines. The concert will be livestreamed using Hangouts On Air and will be available to view live during the event and post-event date on YouTube at youtube.com/tonialejandria. The program will include musical performances by MeaningLess Emphasis and Wheels and Tracks and you'll be able to hear from Bart Skorupa, co-founder of GO, and Toni about the project and on GO.
The Party
100% of donations from the event and online will go directly towards building the clean water well. A portion of proceeds from sales purchased by event attendees at Optical Underground the week after will also go towards the well. In addition, Optical Underground will also donate for each Facebook Check-In made onsite during the party. Groundwork Opportunities will also be selling miniature basket ornaments which proceeds go directly back to GO.
The event is free to attend. Complimentary wine, beer, and sodas will be provided in addition to hors d'oeuvres.
